Outside of a few hints here and there, the plot of next summer’s The Hangover Part III has been mostly under wraps. Already one of the most successful comedy franchises in history, no matter what happens to our Wolfpack chances are strong that audiences will show up, but today we’ve finally got a basic outline for the events that will follow.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Todd Phillips said the film is “Alan’s story,” adding that Zach Galifianakis‘ character is “going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has.” So, with Jeffrey Tambor departed, where will our gang go? As we can see above in a new still, they will return to Vegas for a brief time where “something from the first movie comes back to haunt them.” If one had to guess, we’d bet Heather Graham comes back in a big way.
Ditching the structure of the last few films, Phillips also says that Ken Jeong‘s Mr. Chow is “darker than ever” and that the final film will be ”a fitting end to this three-part opera of mayhem and bad decisions.” As we await the first trailer (which is rumored to land before year’s end), check out a new still of Jeong below, who joins Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha once again.
The Hangover Part III, also starring Melissa McCarthy, Gillian Vigman, Sasha Barrese, Jamie Chung and John Goodman, arrives on May 24th, 2013.
