Dan Fogelman’s script Crazy, Stupid Love has been deemed one of the best unproduced screenplays of 2010. And with a cast that boasts Steve Carell, Kevin Bacon, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone, it’s easy to be excited about this comedy which centers on a lovable schmuck (Carell), who has it all: a nice house, great kids, and a marriage to his high school sweetheart…until his seemingly perfect wife (Moore) demands a divorce, and his life is turned upside down. While the plot seems clichéd, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris) are directing, which assures a clever—if not crass—take on this potentially stale tale.

The only downside: this first look is a little underwhelming:

Yep. There’s Steve Carell, looking dour, and Ryan Gosling, looking deliciously scruffy, having a mojito and a whiskey…or something. Not a lot going on… While I’ve got no idea on the scene’s context, I am curious to see how this pair will work on camera. But let’s hope the film will be far more exciting than its first look.

Crazy, Stupid Love will hit theaters in summer of 2011.
