Director Brian De Palma’s recent film work is spotty at best. Over the last decade, he dropped a few box office bombs, and hasn’t released anything since the 2007 war drama Redacted. But it seems the master of the erotic thriller is finally back on track with his new project Passion, and we have the images to prove it.

Kinopoisk published a few stills of star Rachel McAdams on the set of the new thriller, and while they don’t reveal much, they at least confirm that the film is actually happening. It puts them right on target for the March shooting date that we reported on back in December. We also get to see De Palma sporting a less-than-flattering winter coat. Compared to McAdams, who looks very chic and smart in a red suit, he looks like a mid-west football coach watching from the sidelines. Just one of the perks of being behind the camera. Check out a few below and the rest on the site.

On paper, Passion reads like the perfect De Palma film – let’s just say that “sexy and dangerous” make an appearance. Based on the 2010 French film Love Crime, the final work from late director Alain Corneau, it follows two women competing for power at a large conglomerate. To get an idea of what Passion might deliver, a synopsis described Love Crime as a “deliciously nasty Working Girl meets Dangerous Liaisons, the ultimate ‘horrible boss’ revenge tale with two incredible actresses chewing the scenery.” I’m intrigued, if not a bit titillated, especially since Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace has signed on as McAdams’ co-star. As a De Palma fan, I’m looking forward to seeing him work his magic again. The plot and official release date are still mostly a mystery, but I’d expect a 2013 release.
