Hello all! It’s good to be back in Buffalo and in the world of film news. Jordan and I took a nice little break to drive up and down the east coast, and we saw some things worth repeating for sure. There’s certainly enough material for a possible TFS Original so we will keep you posted on that.
I figured this was an interesting enough little piece of news to post on our first day back. Coppola’s new film, Tetro, is set to release this June and will be his first release since 2007’s provocative failure Youth Without Youth, starring Tim Roth. Tetro stars Vincent Gallo, an famous (or infamous) indie filmmaker who’s made gems like Buffalo ’66 and polarizing stuff like The Brown Bunny. His casting in a Coppola film alone is intriguing.

Coppola always appears very honest about his works and his inspirations and I’ve always admired that. This project appears very personal to Coppola, much like Youth Without Youth. These independently-produced films recall the smaller films the filmmaker messed with in the early 80s, like Rumble Fish and The Outsiders, to mixed success.
Either way, I’m excited we’re getting another Coppola film so soon. After all, this guy spent about 11 years doing not too much after his last film before Youth, The Rainmaker, went brutally underseen despite being quite good.

What do you think of Coppola’s message? Does it interested you in Tetro? What do you think of Coppola?
