Sure, these two films may have absolutely zero to do with each-other, but it is our last batch of images from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. We showed you new/first looks at In The Land of Blood and Honey, Young Adult, The Rum Diary, We Bought a Zoo, The Descendants, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Dream House, J. Edgar, My Week With Marilyn, and The Iron Lady, but now here is a new look at one dark comedy and one blockbuster.
Above you can see our first look at Glee star Chris Colfer with Allison Janney (most recently in The Help), who both star in Struck by Lightning. Colfer tells the magazine that his “character dies on page 1” and the film shows his funeral before serving up flashbacks of his senior year in high school. Written by Colfer himself, the film is directed by Brian Dannelly and expected to hit theaters in 2012.
We also have another look at Brad Bird’s big December blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. We recently learned that the film will have around 25 minutes of IMAX footage, and the shot below comes from one of those scenes. We saw Tom Cruise jump at the end of the trailer, and this looks to be the aftermath, with Jeremy Renner saving the day.
We also learn that “the plot finds [Ethan] Hunt tracking the culprits behind a bombing at the Kremlin.” Bird smartly comments, “The size of the explosions doesn’t matter unless you care about who’s jumping about from it.” Don’t worry though, he continues: “that said, it’s a Mission: Impossible movie. These films are designed to fly.”
Also starring Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will open on December 16th.
