While other A-list Hollywood stars have gone through their career ups and downs, few seem to be as consistent as Denzel Washington. In a studio world where star power is seemingly fading, the actor certainly makes a case against it. This summer’s 2 Guns made double its budget at the worldwide box-office, while last fall’s smaller-scale Flight did the same business. His next project won’t arrive until next September, but it marks the first time the actor has taken part in a potential franchise and today brings the first look.

Reteaming with his Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, The Equalizer is an update on the ’80s TV show, which follows a “troubleshooter” employed for a company called “The Agency.” This line of business finds Washington doing private investigating and business with a more physical bent, all in the name of doling out justice to those who are truly deserving. While we’d be much more interested in the original iteration when Nicolas Winding Refn was on board, hopefully Fuqua can deliver some fun, throwback action. Also starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Melissa Leo, Haley Bennett, Marton Csokas, Johnny Messner, Vladimir Kulich, and Robert Wahlberg, check out the first image below thanks to HeyUGuys.

The Equalizer arrives on September 26th, 2014.
