The life of Winnie Mandela, stalwart wife of Nelson, is coming to theaters, and we’ve got the trailer of Winnie courtesy of Vulture.
Nearly four minutes long, this extended trailer for the biopic, which stars Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard, hits just about every Lifetime movie cliché you can think of: son-wanting father, small town girl in big city (and surprise – she’s noble and selfless!), woman behind the man tale, love (with obstacles!), plaintive music, on-the-nose exposition title cards, and truly stultifying performances. (I’m looking at you, Howard!) While Winnie Mandela’s story may be one worth being told, Winnie looks to be little more than poorly produced Oscar bait.
