Controversy surrounded Exit upon its debut, as rumors arose that much of the scenes and story were faked, making the film a new form of the mysterious Banksy’s subversive art. But Banksy himself spoke out at the top of award season, saying, “Ordinarily I wouldn’t mind if people believe me or not, but the film’s power comes from the fact it’s all 100% true.”
