While Lars von Trier has chaos, Juan Antonio Bayona seems to be riding heavily on emotion for his next feature. We got the first trailer for the next film from The Orphanage director a little while ago and it laid the heart-tugging on thick. Following its premiere at Toronto, reports indicate that is indeed one of the major elements of The Impossible, but critics seemed to be divided whether it worked or not.
We were on the positive side in our review, which will be coming shortly, but now we can take a look at some of the performances from Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in the film that recreates the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami disaster. The drama follows a married couple searching for their missing children in the aftermath and it certainly looks like it could be a sleeper hit come fall. Check out the poster via Entertainment Weekly and clips below.
The Impossible is currently screening at TIFF and opens in December.
