Eminem is back in the movie world it seems, as Vulture reports he is headed to Hollywood to star in 20th Century Fox‘s crime thriller, Random Acts of Violence.

Sources have also told Vulture that Eminem‘s Shady Films teammates and 8 Mile producers, Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr are on board for the new movieActs of Violence’s production has been fraught with problems for a number of years, with massive rewrites being created and then subsequently trashed. Now it seems writer and director David Von Ancken, the man behind Showtime‘s Californication, has revamped the story to make it into a crime thriller similar to The Departed or The Town.

The plot will revolve around an ex-con who, after being released from prison, wants to stay on the right side of the law. His old friends want him to get back into the gang, and as it happens, so do the FBI. Giving him the perfect opportunity for revenge on those who put him in prison in the first place, he takes on the role of a double agent.  Insiders have suggested that the script may go through one more rewrite during the time that Von Ancken is finishing his TV commitments, but it is likely that they will bring him back to direct later on in the year.

Do you think Eminem has enough star power left to pull this movie off?
