While doing the press rounds for new movie, Gulliver’s Travels, Emily Blunt spoke to MTV about another production she’s been working on, the time-traveling flick, Looper. Directed by Rian Johnson (Brick) it co-stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Paul Dano.

No stranger to diverse film roles (she’s played everything from a hard-nosed personal assistant in The Devil Wears Prada, to a Queen in The Young Victoria), Blunt‘s next role involves working closely with an axe and getting her hands dirty.

“It’s sort of post-apocalypto time travel, time-traveling world where it’s a dog-eat-dog world, […] And it’s set in sort of 2050 or 2060, that sort of time, when the world has gone to s***.”

No further plot details were revealed (although rumour is it revolves around a group of time-travelling killers aptly named ‘loopers’) but she did mention that the majority of her scenes are shared with Inception star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

“I have one [scene] with Bruce and the rest is with Joe, […] It’s really a very cool high-concept movie that I probably will take all day if I try to explain it, […] But I think Rian Johnson is somewhat of a genius, and I thought Brick was phenomenal as a movie. So I’m really excited.

I play a really tough girl, sort of Midwestern, lives on a farm. I wield an ax and shoot a gun, […] I’ve got to learn how to chop wood at some point.”
