Remember that odd creepy clan called the Addams family that seemed as if it came straight from the mind of Tim Burton? Well now in the works is a stop motion remake of this quirky family produced by Tim Burton, and the writers of his first biopic Ed Wood are coming along for the ride to put the ideas to paper and scribe this lovely picture.

The Addams Family started out decades ago as a one panel comic strip created by Charles Adams and was originally published for The New Yorker. It was then broad casted as a tv series during the 60’s and later turned into two major motion pictures in the early 90’s. It now stands as a broadway musical filling New York City with it’s wacky and fun ideals and music.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are no strangers to the artistic film industry and with Tim Burton already being part of their hollywood genetic line, they seem like perfect candidates to write a script for this kooky film. Burton and the writers will be creating an actual stop motion movie  for the big screen. Since we have yet to see a Burton stop-motion film grace the silver screens around the world, it would be nice to see what comes of it. The budget behind the flick is coming from Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures, who also worked together on this summers smash hit Despicable Me.

The first two Addams Family films were mainly put together by director Barry Sonnenfeld who is reportedly working on the new Men In Black 3 movie, in pre-production right now. The previous films were usually dark and always had a bit of comedic influence thrown into the mix but weren’t necessarily an overall smash hit with the critics.

Burton’s Ed Wood is by far his least successful film in terms of box office contribution, but with this new flick, it may hold up differently since the tone is meant to be a bit goulish with some kid firnedly ideals in there , of course along with some dark humor. Let’s just hope Cousin Itt’s hair doesn’t seem to block money flowing into Burton’s pockets.

Are you excited for this Addams Family remake? What can they do differently to appeal to the right audience?
