If you haven’t seen Duncan Jones directorial debut Moon, find a way to do so right now. OK, now it is time to get excited. As mentioned in our interview with Jones, his next film is going to be the Blade Runner-inspired Mute. Screen Daily now reports that instead of Escape to the Deep, Mute will indeed be his next project. The UK-German co-production will again be produced Stuart Fenegan (behind Moon) and Jones will be getting $25 million instead of $5.
Mute will follow “a woman whose disappearance causes a mystery for her partner, a mute bartender” who then “has to go up against the city’s gangsters”. The film will feature some unusual villains and Rockwell is set to reprise a small role.
In other news, Duncan Jones took the top prize at the Edinburgh Film Festival with a prize of 20,000 pounds ($32,700).
Have you seen Moon yet? What did you think?
