Perhaps best known as fiancee to The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy, British TV actress Charlotte Riley is now set to make her big Hollywood debut in a major sci-fi tentpole. Doug Liman hasn’t directed a film since 2010’s Fair Game but he’s now finally set to return with All You Need is Kill and has added the actress to the ensemble. [Variety]
Also starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the film is adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka‘s manga comic — scripted by Jody Harold and Dante Harper — that revolves around a Groundhog Day-like conceit, in which a soldier, fighting aliens, experiences a temporal loop that takes him back to the final day of his life. Much like Bill Connors, however, he takes advantage of this constant repetition and starts to train himself for total victory.
Riley will join alongside Blunt and Cruise as one of the soldiers in action. The handy Wikipedia tells us Hardy met Riley in 2008, as they worked on the British projects The Take and Wuthering Heights and it was love at first sight with a proposal two years later. Check out a clip from the latter, below as well as a comedy pilot they did together.
