Dick Cook, the chairman at Walt Disney Studios for the last 38 years, has left “effective immediately,” according to Variety.
After a string of recent box office disappointments (Race to Witch Mountain, Confessions of a Shopaholic, etc.), Cook fell into some apparent hot water with CEO Bob Iger.
Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood initially reported that Cook was fired, and now reports that Cook “had a choice” according to Disney execs. While all this is extremely speculative, the “effective immediately” wording in the Variety article suggests a somewhat timed departure for everyone involved.
What do you think about this? Was it time for Cook to go?
