Along with Thursday’s stockholder approval of the Mouse’s acquisition of Marvel, Disney is expanding its grasp on all things (now and once) Stan Lee, acquiring a 10% stake in POW! Ent., a company run by Lee himself. [THR]
This 10% stake will cost Disney $2.5 million which, of course, is chump change.
What does POW! produce you ask?
Not much as of yet. Disney has had first look rights with POW! since 2007 and it has yet to yield any fully-produced feature projects, but “several are in development, including lighthearted mystery tale “Nick Ratchett,” action-adventure project “Blaze” and one called “Tigress.” POW! is also working on several projects for the home entertainment sector.”
What do you think of this news? Is it to be expected at this point from Disney?
