We’ve got some devastatingly tragic news coming in this evening, as director Tony Scott was pronounced dead after an apparent suicide. Reports indicate he was seen jumping from the Vincent Thomas bridge near Long Beach around 12:30PM on Sunday, after leaving a suicide note in his black Toyota Prius, parked along the highway. Sonar equipment was then used to recover his body, which was found at around 4:30pm, where it was taken to the Los Angeles coroner and the identity was confirmed. [Daily Breeze, The Wrap]
More details will likely be coming in, but it’s hard to put into words how shocking and unexpected this news is. The director behind True Romance, Enemy of the State and Crimson Tide most recently came off Unstoppable and was gearing up to return to his Tom Cruise-led hit Top Gun with a sequel. My prayers go out to his family, including wife Donna Scott and sons, as well as his brother Ridley Scott, in this harrowing time.
