They say the third time’s a charm, but when it comes to the Human Centipede horror series, charm never even factors in. So we’ll just tell you that production has been scheduled for the trilogy’s final chapter, The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence); considering how the first two films got by on the morbid curiosity surrounding its nauseating premise, I can only imagine how far this one will go to attract audiences.
The announcement came from the film’s producer, Ilona Six, who confirmed that principal photography on the project will take place this May and June in the southern U.S. Casting was also revealed, with the news that series’ writer/director Tom Six will appear in a supporting role. At an event last August, the filmmaker promised that Final Sequence would make the previous entry “look like a Disney film” — perhaps his appearance is a way of giving viewers a glimpse at the man responsible for the cinematic atrocity. Fans will also see the return of stars Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey. In 2010, German actor Laser appeared as the mad doctor who conducts the film’s notorious experiment on a trio of unsuspecting victims. A year later, the sequel took it a meta-step forward with Harvey playing an insane Human Centipede fan obsessed with trying to replicate the film’s shocking deeds — deeds that gained the film a good deal of publicity when Britain imposed a ban on its distribution there. Lord knows what Six has concocted for part three.
Final Sequence is set for a 2013 release.
Now that Human Centipede is almost done, what do you think Six’s next project will be?
