Christopher Nolan‘s next movie Inception might be as mindblowing as Memento if what star Leonardo DiCaprio says is true. In an interview with Inquirer Entertainment, the bona fide movie star indicated that he wasn’t even sure what the final product was to be.
“Inception is the same. It is Chris delving into dream psychoanalysis and, at the same time, making a high-octane, surreal film that came from his mind. He wrote the entire thing, and it all made sense to him. It didn’t make sense to many of us when we were doing it. We had to do a lot of detective work (laughing) to figure out what the movie was about.”
The film also stars Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, and Ken Watanabe. It takes on psychoanalysis and dream monitoring in a sci-fi setting, the blueprint for a beautiful Nolan arrangement. The movie will hit theaters in July.
I have to admit, I did not like Nolan’s work for awhile. And then I saw Memento for the first time, and garnered a whole new (humbling) respect for him. Inception appears to be headed down that path, something that could be truly visionary.
Will Inception out mindblow Memento? Where will this rank among his films?
