I don’t know about you, but I was pretty heartbroken by the recent news of Your Highness being pushed back to 2011. Luckily, it looks like director David Gordon Green has a few other projects in the pipeline.
First comes the news that Green is teaming with rookie writer Josh Parkinson to bring his script Free Country to the screen. The project is described as a thriller with comedic elements; sounds right up the alley of Green and his new production company Rough House.
Next comes the news that the same pair will be rewriting the script for the graphic novel adaptation Battling Boy. The project is at Paramount and previously had been given a go by Watchmen co-writer Alex Tse. Now it looks like it’s going in another direction.
David Gordon Green is one of the most talented and exciting young directors out there; a man who’s proven through his various indie dramas such as George Washington and All The Real Girls that he sees deeply into the human soul, and with his mainstream comedy hit Pineapple Express that he can make a funny-ass movie that still contains a lot of artistry.
Do these two new projects from David Gordon Green excite you?
