David Fincher is a busy man. He has the excellent-looking The Social Network coming out this October (check out the full trailer here) and he is gearing up for a remake of The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo. We have some news on that, but first here is a teaser to an animation he is producing. The Goon is based on Eric Powell’s comic book series and features the voice of Paul Giamatti as Frankie. MTV brings us the Comic Con teaser from the Blur studios animation below.

In other Fincher news Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal spoke with The Wrap (via /Film) and said they are currently underway with a global search for the new Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Here is what she had to say.

We’re doing the book. That’s why we hired David Fincher. We’re going to really do this, in all their glory. Otherwise why do it? They’re very R-rated movies. It’s the shock of what’s really going on underneath the surface of society. If you don’t actually make good on that, you haven’t told the story.

The original novels follow a trilogy, which has already been made into films in Sweden. As for Fincher possibly taking on a trilogy, Pascal says “yeah, I would like it. I’m hoping he will. And he’s hoping he will.”

The Social Network hits theaters October 1st and The Goon sometime this year. Fincher plans to start shooting Dragon Tattoo next year.

Are you excited for The Goon? Who should play Salander?
