For those worried that Darren Aronofsky is simply a hired gun for Fox’s stand-alone Wolverine film, watching the video below should give you some assurance. David Poland of Movie City News (via FirstShowing) sat down with the director to talk Black Swan and he also got some nice details regarding Aronofsky’s mindset when it comes to The Wolverine.

The director recently signed a two-year deal to work exclusively with 20th Century Fox and this will be his next project with them. It is interesting to simply watch the talented director talk about this project, but he also provides some insight on why Fox hired him, as well as strongly separating this film from anything that has ever come before it. Check it out:

Written by Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects, Valkyrie), Aronofsky also recently revealed to SuperHeroHype that they are still tweaking the script but that is has “all the samurai elements that are really exciting.” As a big fan of Japanese movies, Aronofsky is still debating on whether to have the film subtitled with spoken Japanese, or English. If the above video is any indication, Fox is going to let him do whatever he likes. Black Swan remains my favorite film of the year, and I’ll be seeing it again this week. I’m eagerly anticipating what Aronofsky does with this “very different” Wolvie.

Is your faith back with Aronofsky?
