According to THR’s Heat Vision blog D.J. Caruso will be taking on the film adaptation of the upcoming science fiction novels I Am Number Four by James Frey and Joby Hughes for Dreamworks. This project was previously reported to have Michael Bay attached to it and was going to be filmed in between Transformers 2 and 3. According to THR the plot of the novels is as follows:
“Four” revolves around a group of nine aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he is being hunted still by his planet’s enemy.
Bay apparently will remain on as producer with Al Gough and Miles Millar still set to write the screenplay. Much speculation has surrounded Caruso since his 2008 film Eagle Eye. Many reports stated he was going to take on a film adaptation of Y: The Last Man starring Shia LaBeouf, but now it looks like that project will be put on hold. I am fine with Caruso taking on this project. He has proven himself a competent director who can pull off a good film with the right story and talent. There is no reason to worry about another Eagle Eye headed our way.
Do you think Caruso is a good choice for the film?
