Although we already had The Final Destination, it certainly wasn’t the last of ’em. Since that fourth entry grabbed nearly $200 million in the global box office, another was greenlit and we have the first trailer today. Final Destination 5 is directed by Avatar visual effects supervisor and second unit director Steven Quale. He even co-directed Aliens of the Deep with James Cameron. Eric Heisserer, who wrote the Nightmare on Elm Street update and the upcoming prequel to The Thing, scripted the next iteration in the popular horror series.

Starring Nicholas D’Agosto and Emma Bell, the film looks to tackle the horrors of Lasik surgery, among other things. The formula doesn’t seem to be changed up at all, with most of the budget going to a big horrific accident at the beginning. I may see it just to witness that David Koechner death and question why in the world he would sign on to this film. Check it out below via Apple and beware, we may getting two more back-to-back sequels if this does well.

Synopsis:

Twelve years after the explosion of Flight 180, Sam Lawton (Nicholas D’Agosto) has a premonition about the bridge he is on collapsing, killing him and many around him. As the vision becomes reality, Sam manages to save himself and a few others. However, Sam and his girlfriend Molly (Emma Bell), discover that Death is still after them and the ones who survived the gruesome accident.

Final Destination 5 hits theaters August 12th, 2011.

Will you see another film in the series or has it worn out its welcome?
