Last night Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau hinted over Twitter that his next project, an adaptation of Scott Mitchell Rosenberg‘s Cowboys & Aliens comic, will have some “very cool” casting news coming soon. In turns out Latino Review had a previous scoop “that Harrison Ford was about to join a huge comic book movie to be directed by a director coming off a soon to be released huge comic book movie.”

A coincidence? It sounds like we will find out quite soon. This would be the perfect project for Ford, after being reduced to crap like Extraordinary Measures recently. Ford would join Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde. With Lost’s Damon Lindelof helping Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman with the script, this is one of my most anticipated blockbusters. Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producing the film along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, the writer of the original graphic novel.

Cowboys & Aliens, which is based on the 2006 graphic novel series follows “an extraterrestrial species as it lands in Arizona in the mid-1800s. The aliens plan to quash the Wild West and enslave humanity, but the cowboys and native Apache have other plans.”

Cowboys & Aliens currently has a summer 2011 release date. Favreau’s Iron Man 2 hits theaters May 7th.

Would you like to see Harrison Ford return to the adventure blockbuster genre?
