Look for a mightier clash this March, as Lous Leterrier‘s upcoming remake is adding a few more big-budget scenes. Hero Complex caught up with Clash of the Titans star Sam Worthington at an Avatar screening last night and he had this to say:
We’re going to be going back and shooting more scenes for it, they cut loose with some money so we can add to it. We’re going to be shooting…in January, so we’re going to be right up against it — the movie comes out in March.
With reshoots like these only a few months before the release, one may wonder if this is strictly due to fixing problems. Worthington responded:
There were some creaky parts but they are the parts that we knew were creaky and that we knew were going to be creaky going into it. The studio is also letting us add some gods and scenes. And they’re talking about making the movie a 3D film.
I find it very hard to believe that Warner Brothers can turn the film 3D in just a few months, but it’s a possibility. Recently MGM delayed Cabin in the Woods for an entire year in order to add 3D. The strong response from the awesome new trailer was probably a factor with Warner Bros realizing they may have a huge hit on their hands. By March, Worthington should also be a household name after everyone and their uncle has seen Avatar.
Clash of the Titans hits theaters March 26th, 2010 3D or not.
Do you think these reshoots are too add to an already promising film or fix a broken one? Do you want to see it in 3D?
