Inception and Sunshine star Cillian Murphy has been one of my favorite actors for awhile. After his recent acclaim, it is nice to see him get some more prominent recognition. Heat Vision is reporting he is in final negotiations to join Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake in Andrew Niccol‘s I’m.mortal. Check out the synopsis below.
The story is set in the not-too-distant future, when the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, and the rest try to negotiate for their immortality.
When a poor man named Will (Timberlake, who still is negotiating his deal) is suddenly given a fortune, he becomes the target of a murder investigation and kidnaps an heiress (Seyfried) while on the run.
The organization that keeps track and enforces the time is Timekeepers. Murphy will play when of their officers. He is being described as “precise as the time he keeps.” It will be interesting to see if Niccol can return to the heights of his great sci-fi masterpiece, Gattaca.
I’m.mortal is looking to shoot in late September.
