As we reported about a month ago, We Bought a Zoo‘s Elle Fanning and Alessandro Nivola have already signed onto star in Sally Potter‘s drama Bomb. Now, according to DailyMail, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks has joined the cast.
The film centers on the lives of two teenage rebels, played Fanning and Alice Englart, “who become involved in the Ban the Bomb movement and the sexual revolution” in the 1960s. Nivola is set to play Fanning‘s father, a charismatic writer who has an affair with her best friend, which leads to a fallout. Oscar-nominated Annette Bening has also been rumored to be joining the cast. Potter will produce alongside Christopher Sheppard, with plans to shoot next February in London and the Southeast coast.
We’re not what role Hendricks will be playing, but, nevertheless, I’m starting to get a little worried she’ll be typecast as a 1960s sex bomb for future roles. Although I think she’s wonderful as Joan Holloway in Mad Men — I also enjoyed her small role in Drive — but she certainly has the acting talent to venture into other (non-era specific) roles. Regardless, I have no doubt that Hendricks can bring unique character to whatever role she has in Bomb. She will be seen next in Brian Dannelly‘s dramedy Struck by Lightning and the drama Seconds of Pleasure, both out next year.
What do you think of Hendricks joining Bomb?
