After the Oscar-nominated Murderball, many have been anticipating Dana Adam Shapiro‘s narrative debut Monogamy. Oscilloscope Laboratories finally picked it up for a March release. Starring Chris Messina (Devil, Greenberg) and Rashida Jones (The Social Network, Parks and Recreation), I saw the film last spring at Rochester’s 360/365 Film Festival. While it is hardly the intense suspenseful thriller the trailer makes it out to be, but I enjoyed the dynamic between our two leads. They are both fantastic actors that deserve to break out. While it isn’t terribly focused, most of the charm is with Shapiro’s highly improvised dialogue and the stunning RED cinematography. Check out the trailer and poster below via Apple and The Playlist.

Synopsis: Increasingly anxious about his impending marriage to Nat (Jones) and thoroughly bored with his day job as a wedding photographer, Theo (Messina) establishes a hobby: he’s hired by clients to clandestinely snap voyeuristic photos of them as they go about their days. Things go smoothly until a sexy new customer’s exhibitionism leads to an all-consuming obsession. As Theo shoots her day and night, the woman’s mysterious public trysts send him reeling, forcing him to confront uncomfortable truths about his sex life at home.

Monogamy hits theaters March 11th, 2011.
