Could the Clash of the Titans sequel wildly outdo its predecessor? Things are pointing in that direction. Louis Leterrier, who is responsible for the last year’s bland blockbuster is out, and Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman has stepped in. We have Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson returning, and The Wrap reports a few more newcomers below.

Edgar Ramirez, who delivered the best performance of 2010 for his work in Carlos, is in final talks to play the god Ares. Also joining is Tony Kebbell. You may know him from being the “crazy guy” in Guy Ritchie‘s RocknRolla. He also starred in last summer’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. He will play Agenor in the film.

Other rumors include Bill Nighy as Hephaestus and Captain America star Hayley Atwell as Andromeda, but nothing is official. Others considered for the princess part include Georgina Haig, Janet Montgomery, Dominique McElligott, and Clemence Poesy. Despite the putrid buzz around the net due to the terrible 3D conversion and overall disappointing film, it managed to gross nearly $500 million worldwide.

Wrath of the Titans will come out March 30th, 2012.

What do you think of this casting? Will you see a sequel?
