If starring in Burlesque wasn’t emasculating enough, Cam Gigandet’s new project will remove his manhood altogether.

The Twilight actor – who recently finished shooting on Catherine Hardwicke‘s thriller, Plush – will co-star with comedian Nick Thune in the indie comedy Johnson. Written by Jeff Tetreault and directed by Huck Botko (The Virginity Hit), its story follows Rich Johnson (Gigandet), a rich, young womanizer whose penis splits from his body and takes human form (Thune). The bizarre separation forces the self-centered rake to re-evaluate his life and become a better man. An uplifting castration story? Who said Hollywood is out of ideas? [Variety]

The project marks the first major supporting role for Thune, whose film credits include minor parts in Knocked Up and Extract. I can only imagine how the call from his agent went. (There was probably a lot of giggling.)

Johnson, which is co-produced by 2DS and Roman’s Empire, will start erecti– I mean, production, next week.

Do you think Johnson‘s premise seems interesting or absurd?
