Bryan Singer recently spoke to Total Film to promote the UK DVD and Blu-Ray release of Valkyrie. Singer answered a few questions about coming back to X-Men and Superman.
On Superman Singer, as usual, acted coy:
“I don’t know, I don’t know. There are still issues. I just don’t know. I don’t necessarily…I don’t know. It’s one of those things where…It’s so weird talking about stuff unless I’m about to ramp up and shoot it.“
This conversation seems to come up once every few weeks now on whether Singer is going to return. Warner Brothers seems completely lost on what they should do with Superman. It wouldn’t at all be surprising if they just kept him in the dark for a few years and then came back with another reboot. I still like Superman Returns even with its numerous flaws. Singer has proved he can make a worthy sequel and I know I wasn’t the only one excited when he said he was going to go Wrath of Khan with the sequel.
When asked about X-Men Singer says:
“I’m eternally intertwined with X-Men now,” he told them. “What takes an audience four hours to watch – the first two movies – took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it….It’s a shame.” They also asked Singer whether he wished he had directed the third “X-Men” movie, to which he replied, “It’s weird for me to watch it, because I’m so close to the universe. And also Brett is a good friend of mine. But, of course, I would love to return to that universe.”
What do you think is going to happen with Superman and X-Men?
