Rowan Joffe is best known for writing 28 Days Later and this year’s The American. His latest directorial effort is another adaptation of Graham Greene‘s Brighton Rock, this time set in the1960’s. The film also got an adaptation in 1947, alternatively titled Young Scarface. Joffe recently premiered his film at the Toronto International Film Festival, where I unfortunately missed it. It stars Sam Riley (Control) as our lead and he is joined by Helen Mirren, John Hurt, Andy Serkis, and Andrea Riseborough. You can check out the trailer below via Guardian, in which the trailer they declare it “a masterpiece.”

Synopsis: Charts the headlong fall of Pinkie, a razor-wielding disadvantaged teenager with a religious death wish.
