Empire Online tells us today that director Brett Ratner is going to reboot the classic Disney film, Snow White. Instead of being a fairytale like the original, this one will take a different route and be more of an edgy comedy. And of course no surprise here, it will be in 3D, but what isn’t these days?
The script is being written by Melisa Wallack and Ratner has been quoted as saying the following:
“This is not your grandfather’s Snow White. Melisa went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney’s film. His dwarves were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we’re going to do”
Although Ratner is on board to produce, it is not yet confirmed if he will direct. Hopefully more news will come soon and when it does we’ll be sure to update you.
