With unprecedented quality in the medium t should come as no surprise when television’s top talents are being cherry-picked by Hollywood for various projects. The latest news comes with one of TV’s best shows, Breaking Bad, whose recent premiere celebrated a record viewing of 5.9 million pairs of eyeballs.

Now Deadline reports writer and producer of that Bryan Cranston-led show, George Mastras, has been hired by Universal to bring Dean Unkefer‘s 90 Church: The True Story Of The Narcotics Squad From Hell to the screen. Last summer the project was set to be directed by Snow White And The Huntsman helmer Rupert Sanders his co-hort Joe Roth will produce.

Despite being attached to a wealth of projects, Sanders still hasn’t decided on his sophomore effort and there’s no word yet if this will be it. As for the subject matter, it’ll track the ins and outs of 30 agents in a NYC-based Federal Bureau of Narcotics office around the ’60s and ’70s. While SWATH didn’t sell us on Sanders’ talents, Mastras has proven he can bring a specific intensity to the area of drug-related crime dramas, so consider us on board.

Are you looking forward to seeing Mastras take on this project?
