Since Jennifer Lawrence dropped out of Oliver Stone‘s film adaptation of the Don Winslow novel Savages for another adaptation of a book (you know which one), the role of Ophelia is up for grabs. Ophelia is the girlfriend the two drug-selling heroes (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch are in talks) live and love with, before she is kidnapped by the drug cartel (Benicio Del Toro is in talks to play one of the bad guys) determined for the two to join or die.
Lively is poised to make that big leap after an impressive little turn in Ben Affleck’s The Town last year and the romantic lead in the upcoming blockbuster Green Lantern this summer. She’s currently considering the role of The Good Witch in Sam Raimi‘s Oz: The Great and Powerful.
She may have to chose between these two high-profile projects, since both are set to start shooting around the same time. One wonders how much her performance in, and the performance of, Green Lantern will inform Universal’s opinion on Stone’s casting choice. [Showblitz]
What do you think? Can Lively pull off beautiful love hippie?
