After appearing in five features this year with Zero Dark Thirty, People Like Us, Darling Companion, Safety Not Guaranteed and Your Sister’s Sister (not to mention every episode of The League), we’ve got a look another upcoming work from writer/actor/director Mark Duplass. Back in January LD Entertainment acquired the rights to Black Rock, a Sundance selection for which he wrote the screenplay and now it’s gearing up for a release next year.
Directed by and starring Katie Aselton, it follows three friends (Aselton, Kate Bosworth, and Lake Bell) who reunite for a ladies-only camping trip on a remote island only to become the prey to a group of vengeful hunters. A trailer for the film was just released, and it seems to promise a survival thriller in the vein of A Perfect Getaway. See below:
Black Rock also stars Will Bouvier, Jay Paulson, and Anslem Richardson. The film is set to release on May 17th, 2013.
What do you think of the trailer? Do you think Black Rock look like a good film to kick off the summer movie season?
