All April Fool’s Day jokes aside, it appears Bill Dreamgirls Condon (pictured on the right) is at the tippy-top of the director’s list for Breaking Dawn, the collective final two films in the Twilight series (if there’s one thing positive that can be said for the series, it’s the amazingly impressive turnaround time).

Condon already has a couple of projects in pre-production: the untitled Richard Pryor biopic starring Marlon Wayans and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, written by Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy.

One would assume both of these projects will take a back seat to something like Twilight.

With David Slade and now potentially Condon behind the lens of these next few films, it’s both hard to imagine how they’ll distinguish their respective projects from their mediocre predecessors and how they won’t, considering their ambitious pedigrees.

Condon’s Gods and Monsters and Kinsey are two of the most interesting and bravest examinations of American sex culture ever made. So isn’t it curious that the man would be intrigued in taking on the final book of the series, which is the only one that deals with the actual act of sex, and deals with it rather explicitly.

In a perfect world, this decision would be perfect.
