It’s starting to become normalcy to be enriched with extra, sneak-peak footage at the end of the closing credits on blockbuster movies. Take for example X-Men 3. the post-credit scene of X-Men 3 is a hospital room where a doctor walks in and the patient turns to her and says, “Hello, Moira.” She then looks disturbed and utters “Charles?” The voice of the patient is that of Charles Xavier.
The first Iron Man had a run-in with the post-credit formula in which Sam L. Jackson showed up as Nick Fury to aggravate the possibility of a superhero tag-team. Word on the street is Marvel may have something congruent in mind for Iron Man 2, only this time around the character cameos will be that of Captain America and Thor.
Italian site Bad Taste confirms the speculation and states Captain America and Thor will show up in Iron Man 2 after credits. It may also be the first time the Avengers are referenced by name in a Marvel film.
Unfortunately not a whole lot is known about the closing credits to Iron Man 2, and quite frankly I don’t mind. Movies are pieces of art (for the most part) and having the lack-of-attention span that inhibits you from being capable to sit five extra minutes to view all the movie-makers that went into putting together a film that you might bash or completely rave about for the next couple of days, or months, is pathetic. I’m not a bitter old hag but I know when it’s right to give respect when credit is due.
So bulk up on the barrels of popcorn you fatties, get the size of soda that makes your teeth scream for the dentist, and have some decency to respect the filmmakers. As Marvel has shown those who appreciate get rewarded. Cha ching!
Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey Jr. and is slated to be in theaters Friday, May 7th.
Thought to ponder: if knowing no post-credit clips would be present at the end of a film would you still sit through the credits?
