This weekend saw the mighty clash of the ’80s remakes as The Karate Kid trounced The A-Team. However, both brought home an admirable payday, green-lighting the market.

Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter is Dead, the classic childhood antic romp, is apparently in the works to be remade, joining the growing list of 80s remakes, The Hollywood Cog is reporting[via Pajiba]. Yes, the film that brought Christina Applegate to big screen success is being reborn.

The Mark Gordon Company (i.e. Mark Gordon) is tied to produce the film, which is currently being penned.

The original was about a young adult older sister whose mother does not trust her to babysit. But when the appointed babysitter dies, she is left in charge with no money and must find a job to support her brothers and sisters. Hilarity ensues. And a dog almost gets eaten. This one was watched one too many times in my youth.

What other ’80s remakes should be made? Would you like to see this one?
