I’m quite glad A Serious Man got recognized, as I’m afraid my favorite film of the year will get virtually passed over come Oscar nomination time. It’s kind of sad that the writers of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen got a WGA nod and that Avatar, which had a really poor script, got recognized. It will be interesting to see what translates come Oscar time. Next up, The American Society of Cinematographers nominees.
Avatar, Mauro Fiore
The Hurt Locker, Barry Ackroyd
Inglourious Basterds, Robert Richardson
Nine, Dion Beebe
The White Ribbon, Christian Berger
Not much to say, all of these were very well shot films. I’m kind of surprised Roger Deakins didn’t recognized for A Serious Man as he is an Academy favorite with his 8 Oscar nominations. This will also likely be Nine‘s only recognition this year as it is doing terribly all around.
What do you think about the noms? What will transfer come Oscar time?
