Peter Sciretta over at /Film seems to believe that the sequel to James Cameron‘s Avatar could be prepping for pre-poduction very soon. Citing trusted sources, /Film has been informed that various technical positions have been filled for the CGI heavy sequel with length 3-5 year contracts. Cameron spent roughly that amount of time producing Avatar so it would make sense that the contracts would be around that length. The principle actors, including Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, have all signed agreements for future installments as well.
Avatar recently surpassed Titanic, Cameron’s previous film, to achieve the record for worldwide box office totals and picked up two Golden Globes for Best Picture and Best Director. The film is currently sitting at number 2 domestically (besting The Dark Knight) and is on track to surpass Titanic in the next few weeks.
Do you think Avatar 2 will be Cameron’s next film or will he tackle another project before returning to Pandora?
