Ayn Rand‘s novel Atlas Shrugged has been kicking around Hollywood for a while now. We reported last month that producer John Aglialoro bought the rights to the novel for $1 million in 1992 and had to start production by this past weekend or he would lose the rights. /Film brings us news today that he has succeeded.Paul Johansson, a director and actor from the television show One Tree Hill, will be helming the $5 million project. Like the book, the film will be divided into three parts. Right now, part one has a 5 week shoot planned and part two will be filmed shortly after. There is no word on a third part yet.

Johansson is not only directing but he will also have a role in the film as the character Galt. Other cast members include Grant Bowler, Matthew Marsdan, and Nick Cassavetes.

The novel is an absolute classic and I really hope they do it justice with the film. With the extremely rushed production we can only wait and see.

What do you think? Can the film do the novel justice?
