As Aaron Sorkin toils away at his reportedly ambitious take on a Steve Jobs biopic, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see a different look at the life of the Apple co-founder. After premiering as the closing movie at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, Open Road Films has decided to delay Joshua Michael Stern‘s Ashton Kutcher-led biopic for an indefinite time.
Previously going under the title jOBS, the distributor has also thankfully made the wise decision of forgoing the Apple-speak and simply retitling it Jobs. Once set for a release on April 19th, THR reports that the distributor desired more time to market the film, instead of rushing the release date to match the 37th anniversary of the debut Apple Computer. We also wouldn’t be surprised if date change was due in part to the competition of the Tom Cruise-led Oblivion the same weekend.
Also starring Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine, the reviews out of Park City were middling, but those looking forward to it will hopefully be able to check it out by the end of the year.
