According to FirstShowing.net director Antoine Fuqua is currently in talks to direct Aaron Guzikowski film Prisoners. Since the films purchase by Alcon Entertainment it has been downsized (most notably by the removal of Mark Wahlberg as the lead) and fast tracked into production. Alcon hopes to begin pre-production in either January or February for an October release through Warner Brothers. Fuqua’s latest film Brooklyn’s Finest is set for release at some point this year but he hasn’t done anything notable since 2007’s Shooter. No other information has been released on Prisoners.
I am a fan of Fuqua more often than not. At the end of the day the man did make one of the greatest cop dramas of all time (Training Day). I think this could work but the film needs to enter some stage of production soon if it has any hope for a release in 2010.
Do you think Fuqua is a good choice?
