/Film reported today that Dreamworks has hired Fringe writer Brad Caleb Kane to scribe a movie based on the Viewmaster childrens toy. You know the toy that allows kids to look in it and see pretty pictures. That’s going to be a movie. He is apparently developing the script for Star Trek and Transformers writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. They hope that it is “in the vein of the old 1980’s Amblin movies like Goonies and Young Sherlock.”
Like the Asteroids film that was reported yesterday this just seems like a movie that could be anything. But the toy does seem like it could have horror pottential. Maybe it is cursed and whatever you look into becomes your worst nightmare. We will see where this leads but I am not excited.
