Soon to be seen in Nacho Vigalondo‘s highly-anticipated Colossal at TIFF, and next year in the upcoming Ocean’s Eight alongside a massive cast, Anne Hathaway has another project in her sights. She’s signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of Jenny Mollen‘s novel Live Fast Die Hot according to Variety, which is not a cross-over spin-off on the Die Hard and Fast & Furious series.
In fact, it is a collection of personal essays from the author that delve into adulthood, responsibility, and proving that you can travel alone without ending up in a Taken-esque scenario. Mollen herself has a particular set of skills as a writer and actress who lives in New York, who has appeared in films such as Crazy, Stupid, Love and TV episodes on Wilfred and Girls. The adaptation is in association with Warner Bros and one can check back for more details.
Variety has also reported that Elizabeth Olsen has joined Mark Raso‘s Kodachrome, alongside Jason Sudeikis and Ed Harris. Off a script penned by Jonathan Tropper (co-creator of Banshee), based on an article in the New York Times written by A.G. Sulzberger titled, “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas,” the film is set during the closing days of the photo development system known as Kodachrome and concerns a father and son who venture on a road trip to get to the Kanas photo labs before they close their doors for good. It could be assumed that Sudeikis and Harris are playing the aforementioned father and son, alongside a cast that includes includes Bruce Greenwood, Wendy Crewson, and Dennis Haysbert. Shooting begins this week in Toronto.
Lastly, Deadline reports that directing duo Jonathan and Josh Baker have found the beginnings of a cast for their feature length version of their short film Bag Man, seen below. Now titled Kin, the sci-fi action thriller will star Zoe Kravitz, James Franco, Jack Reynor, and Dennis Quaid. The short followed a troubled boy who skips school and travels through the woods with a mysterious and large canvas bag. The reveal — spoilers, naturally — is that the bag contains an alien weapon that the boy uses first for target practice, then… well, you can figure it out. The feature script is written by Daniel Casey and will be produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Jeff Arkuss, David Gross, and Jesse Shapira.
