We had reported to you a couple of days ago that Angelina Jolie had effectively killed Wanted 2 by signing on to Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, but pump your brakes. It turns out that Jolie has turned down the film.
This is a pretty major buzz-kill seeing how this project could potentially be forever dead in the water. A challenging but expensive project like this needs a director with a lot of financial good will and a huge star to actually get green-lit (ex. Christopher Nolan‘s Inception) but now it looks like it has neither.
Cuaron hasn’t made a narrative film since his 2006 masterpiece Children of Men and I’m getting a little worried that he’ll never get a follow-up off the ground. This is especially disappointing on Jolie‘s part, seeing as how she’ll probably instead just do another movie where she plays a sexy spy.
How disheartened are you to hear that Gravity might not actually happen?
