We’ve got a little television news here on The Film Stage today, but that’s just because we know how much you all love zombies, and this story is full of them.
A nearly five-minute version of the Comic-Con trailer for AMC’s upcoming series, The Walking Dead hit the web today. Adapted for the small screen by none other than Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Mist), The Walking Dead is based on Robert Kirkman‘s popular comic book series of the same name. It’s about a sheriff named Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who is hospitalized after sustaining gunshot woulds on the job. Anyone who’s seen Danny Boyle‘s 28 Days Later knows what to expect when Grimes wakes up in a seemingly abandoned hospital with corpses strewn about and apocalyptic graffiti on the walls.
That’s right people, a television series about the zombie uprising. That it’s coming to AMC, the same network that’s pumping out quality shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, can only mean good things. And if you pay attention to the trailer below, you’ll see that Michael Rooker is in it as well. Rooker and zombies? It just doesn’t get any better than that.
The Walking Dead‘s Darabont-directed pilot episode debuts on AMC on October 31. Later confirmed series directors include Ernest R. Dickerson (a Dexter, Burn Notice, and Weeds veteran) and Swedish director Johan Renck (Breaking Bad).
Check out the trailer below. If you just want zombie action, skip to the 2:00 mark.
