Hollywood looks to be eager to set The Disappearance of Alice Creed director J. Blakeson up with his big-budget debut, it’s just a matter of finding exact what it will be. The young director is already attached to a Jonathan Nolan-scripted film, as well as the Bradley Cooper-led crime drama Bad Blood and Trouble and now we’ve got another potential project.
Vulture is reporting that 20th Century Fox, along with Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian (who grabbed the rights earlier this year), are looking towards Blakeson to adapt the self-published book Wool. Written by Hugh Howey, the hit book tells a series of five stories in a dystopian world following people that live in houses underground. I’ve been eager to see the talented director finally land his next project, so hopefully this one turns out to be the coveted option. Check out a longer synopsis of the book below via Wikipedia, including the characters we can expect to pop up.
The story of Wool takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Humanity clings to survival in the Silos, a subterranean city extending hundreds of stories beneath the surface. The series initially follows the character of Holston, the sheriff of Silo-18, with subsequent volumes focusing on the characters of Juliette, Jahns, and Marnes. An ongoing story line of the series is the focus on the mystery behind the Silo and the secrets that it holds. The Silo’s mystery is eventually revealed by the end of book five, with First Shift being a prequel to the series.
Do you hope Blakeson directs this project?
